Quake2 is the latest Quake version which has just been released by id Software last December. Quake2 has most of the features which previously only available in Quakeworld, such as Internet play optimization, various player skin and so on. But the one feature that will surely catch your eyes is the graphics...... if you think Quake/Quakeworld graphics are cool, wait till you see Quake2! Sure, great graphics require a faster computer (anybody ever upgraded a computer because of a game? :), but Quake2 can utilize some of the most popular 3D accelerator (if you have one....). Things like transparent water, realistic 3D explosion, colored lighting and more detailed object models are beautiful to look at. There is now even a different player model for the male and female gamers. Gameplay is still as addictive as the original Quake. Those guys at id have done it again.... There is only a full registered version of Quake2, but for those willing to check it out, there is the demo version which consist of the first three level of the game (about 30 total). This demo can be used to play a multi-player game on the Internet for those three levels. There are some sites on the Internet which you can visit for information about Quake2.
